Equality & Fairness Grants

The Equality and Fairness Grants Fund 2015-16 is now open. The guidance booklet and application form are available to download from the Council website.

All funded activities must contribute to our Equality and Fairness Objective of strengthening the voice and influence of under-represented communities in Sheffield.

There are 2 themes for 2015-16:

  1. Equality Hub Network (maximum £15,000/project) – promoting and supporting the Equality Hub Network
  2. Voter registration (maximum £5,000/project) –  increasing the number of registered voters from communities of identity, particularly BME people and young people

The closing date for applications is Friday 6 February 2015, 12pm (midday).

Crosspool Forum Open Meeting cancelled

Tonight’s Open Meeting has been cancelled due to concerns over snow, ice and the safety of people attending.

The new date for the meeting will be Thursday 12 February 2015 at St Columba’s church.

51 bus The 51 bus timetable has been adjusted

Adjustments to the midweek 51 bus service timetable came into operation today.

The revised timetables are part of operator First’s latest efforts to improve the reliability of the service.

The Take2 Project

The Take2 project supports former service personnel in gaining experience and skills in construction (renovating properties for a charity) and individualised support in housing, education, training and employment options. Access to specialist mental health and substance misuse support.

What will I get out of it?

  • 12 weeks practical construction experience to build skills & confidence and help you in making applications for jobs, volunteering and training
  • Vocational training options
  • Housing support
  • Peer mentoring opportunities
  • Access to specialist support where required

Who can apply?

  • Anyone that has served in the armed forces and is living in Sheffield or has a connection to Sheffield (for example, family living there)
  • You don’t need previous experience – just be keen to get involved and able to commit to the full 12 weeks
  • You don’t need any previous qualifications

Programme Duration:

  • 12 weeks minimum
  • Minimum commitment of 2 days per week during the programme
